I've had moments of disconnecting from the world my whole life. Moments where I just sit there thinking, staring at a fixed point while chewing on a pencil.

At 16, during a boring math class, I chipped a tooth biting down on that pencil while thinking about something. I don't remember what, but I must have been thinking pretty hard.

Ten years later, I'm a copywriter. Maybe it has nothing to do with the tooth, but these days I love that my job is all about thinking, staring at a fixed point, while chewing on a pencil. Maybe every now and then I'll chip another tooth, and maybe other times, a good idea will come out of it.
